At Troop 638, the safety and well-being of our Scouts is our top priority, in accordance with the policies of the Boy Scouts of America. As part of these policies, it is mandatory for all adults interacting with youth in our activities to complete Youth Protection Training (YPT). This training is vital to ensuring a safe and positive environment for our Scouts.
Two Levels of Adult Participation and Requirements:
Volunteering with the Scouts: Anyone wishing to volunteer in any capacity that involves interacting with the Scouts, such as driving to a campout, is required to maintain current YPT certification.
Overnight Stays: To participate in overnight activities, you must be a currently registered adult volunteer and possess current YPT certification.
YPT Training Details:
YPT is an online training that takes about 1 hour to complete, and it must be renewed every 2 years to stay current.
You can register as an adult volunteer online, but it may take over a week.
To get YPT certified, please visit My.Scouting.org, create an account, and note your member ID/reference number for verification. This ID is crucial for both the completion and verification of your YPT certificate.
For any questions or assistance with YPT, contact Cathy Jones at training@troop638.org. Your dedication to Troop 638's mission and the safety of our Scouts is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
